My Favorite Painting
My favorite painting is "Guernica" by Pablo Picasso. I'm not usually a big fan of cubism, but "Guernica" is an exception. This is my favorite painting becuase there is a lot of things going on in it. I also like the inspiration Picasso had behind creating the painting.
"Guerinca" incorporates many of Horowitz's terms. For example, it seems that Picasso didn't have trouble with many decisions because everything seems all over the place. However, the painting has a lot of depth to it. There are so many things going on, and each of these expresses a certain idea. The lighting also has a great effect on the focal point of the painting. There is a light bulb in the center of the drawing which shines on all of the activity in the painting.

ReplyDeleteThis piece is an awesome example of color and compression of depth. by haveing many shades of black it develops a very dynamic nature. Also, the scaling is very even across the board.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting painting. Although it doesn't have much color, it is very live in its character. The characters and objects in the painting are very chaotic. The form of the elements are very interesting. This painting can be used to describe the current phase of modern day America, if you so choose to connect certain elements of the pictures to different aspects of America. I think the reason why the absence of color is so important is because the painter is trying to direct our view to the behavior of the characters.
